A quick way to get a sum, count, and average in Excel

Do you often wish there was a quick way to get a sum of some numbers on your spreadsheet without having to insert a sum formula?  Even many experienced users of Excel have never noticed a very helpful little feature that already exists, as shown on the screenshot above.

Whenever two or more cells are highlighted, look at the bottom portion of the screen to see the Average, Count, and Sum of the cells highlighted.  If the cells do not contain numbers, only Count is available, as there isn’t anything to Average or Sum. If you right-click on that portion of the screen you have the option to also add Numerical Count (a count of only cells that contain numbers), Minimum, and Maximum.
